I don't remember where I got the cpu, but..
{
Intel Pentium 4 [Prescott]
Socket 478
1.3V
Physical Addressing max. : 36-bit
Linear Addressing max. : 32-bit
Microcode : MU0F3417
Revision : D0
Support : mPGA-478
}
I see that the Socket isn't the same, but I don't know if that would make it not work.
what do you think?

No, it won't work. You need a socket LGA 775 processor.

If you don't want to get C2D now I would get a Pentium D 820. They are pretty good and cheap.

Only if you are not willing to get C2D right now. If so it looks great. Just make sure you have RAM though.

The RAM looks nice. Just for the record. What C2D model will you be buying in the future?

I was thinking about this. but with the above i already have a $500 upgrade
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115004

I want to get the Core 2 Duo E6400 so I don't have to upgrade later.. is it worth $100 extra?
