I think RAM for video reserve only happens when you are using a GPU without VRAM.
As soon you put in a graphic card the reserve should automatically be disabled.

I second Biker's post.

You shouldn't have to mess with the onboard video settings in the BIOS at all.

Depending on what programs you use is where you will see a difference. When I got my laptop last year it had 6GB installed (1x4GB & 1x2GB) and I decided to swap the 2GB for another 4GB to max it out to 8GB and I haven't really noticed a difference.

I'm sure they all do. Since you have 4 gigs of Vram you can turn off the aperture in the BIOS to reclaim your system memory.

True, this does stand if the BIOS is not set to automatic. (normally default)
