Ok, i was thinking about getting a phenom, but i wannna get a 64 X2, the 64 X2 has 3.2 ghz while the phenom only has 2.6. so i was wondering what makes it better?

Phenom can do more per clock cycle. In other words, a 2.6GHz Phenom would be a lot faster than a 3.2GHz Athlon 64 X2.

If you're thinking about getting a Phenom, you might want to hold on to your money for a little bit longer. AMD's 45nm Deneb Phenoms are on schedule for Q4 2008, and they're looking pretty impressive.

Phenom is the AMD desktop processor line based on the K10 microarchitecture, or Family 10h Processors. Phenom isn't as bad as it may appear, as comparison between the Phenom and the 64 X2 shows. The main benefit of dual-core processors like the X2 is their ability to process more software threads at the same time. The 64 X2 is capable of decoding SSE3 instructions, so it can run and benefit from software optimizations that were previously only supported by Intel chips.
