Red face where post .. avi prob.

im trying to play a movie file i just downloaded avi type.when itry to play it will always say:Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.why is this and can i play it another way. or how can i change it from avi to mpeg. if possible.

Download crystal player, it will be able to play it...Also if you want to play it in windows media player, you have to download the avi codec...As for changing it from avi to mpeg, google "avi to mpeg" and u will get a ton of converters.

Its most likely the codec. Download K-Lite Codec Pack; http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...Codec_Pack.htm
That should fix the problem. If it doesnt, try VLC player, that thing plays ANYTHING. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
