Default When will PCI-Express take over PCI Cards? (PCI Express x1, x4, x8)

A lot of new motherboards have PCI-Express x1 or 4 slots. I was wondering how important this is to making your computer ready for the future. Till now PCI Express slots, besides for video cards, are almost non-existent. So when do you think PCI-Express cards will start taking over PCI and become more mainstream in add in cards?

There wasn't a don't know, so I decided to be unpatient. To tell you, you can find most of the stuff nowdays in PCI-E x1 interface. Gigabit NICs, sound cards, TV tuners, GPUs, etc.
