What's The Secret?

They aren't necessarily proprietary, it's just not common to be used out side of one model laptop. Like the HP nw8240's and nw8440's I deal with at school, they use the same motherboard, but the 8510 that we issued this last year uses a completely different board.

That used to be true. Now more and more is comming off of the board and becoming all add-on cards.


Like I said, I don't know much about laptops, so I wasn't sure.
But fortunately, you guys do so it's OK.
 
MoBos must be more expensive for laptops compared to desktops yes? My logic is because they are all different and not standardized, therefore not producing as many. My logic may be flawed though.

That depends. Are you talking about prebuilt notebooks?
 
nah, you're right. Memory serve's me right, HP's non-return cost for a motherboard in my laptop is about $500. Next time I have to order one, I'll take a screenshot.
