Question Whats the difference in the name, and the clock speed? (2800+, 2000mhz)

I am building a new pc after xmas and i am using a sempron 2800. Whats the difference between the name and speed because it runs at 2.0ghz but its called a 2800. What does this mean and how does it work?

does that mean that an AMD 64 3200 runs as fast as an Intel 3.2 ghz?

not as fast, but it will run the same. AMDs have other better parts (not sure which ones) and makes up for the 'slower' clock speed. So the AMD 3200 will run the same as a 3.2 but technically not as fast.

AMD's do 9 IPC (instructions per clock) compared to Intel's 6. That is what makes up for the slower clock speeds.
