Default Is this what's called Phishing?

Hi,

I keep getting email from Amazon and Ebay about updating my account
information. But I don't have an account on Amazon. Is this what's called
Phishing? also how can I tell if the Ebay requrest for me to update my account info is valid?

Thanks in advance.

I was getting that email from ebay too, and I am an ebay member but the thing is, it wasn't on the email address that i had registered with ebay! And a good tip...never follow links on emails. Open up a new browser window and type www.ebay.com if you want to go to ebay. I know that for ebay the sign in link always starts with "signin.ebay.com" so if you don't see that....it's fake.
and yes it is a phishing scam....they're trying to steal your info.

It's kind of off-topic, but also on-topic too. IE7 will have a built-in antiphising tool that will help prevent these mistakes. A unmovable tab bar and more will help to aid the average user in deflecting phising.
