What's better, one GeForce 9800 or two 9600's paired in SLI??

I don't know why everyone is going mad about the 9800GT, from what I've heard, it's only going to be a revised 8800GT and will still use the G92 core. It might have a slightly better reference cooler but apart from that...

quad 9800x2, with a sklltrail mobo with 2 quads OC to 4.5!!!!

hahahaha!!!!! uber unnecessarynes

Assuming I have the PCI slots for it, and seeing as how the price would probably be the same (the GeForce 9800 will be 4-500 dollars compared to dual 9600s that are each 200 dollars) which should I invest in??

Also, I have a 450W power supply. I get the sense that 450W is not enough...is this correct??

Thanks!!

The only way one 9800 will destroy a SLI of 9600s is if it's the 9800 GX2, otherwise it'd be a pretty close match. the new 9 series is not supposed to be a big boost in performance.

Just as an FYI, I think it's been touched here, but the 8800 will still run faster than the 9600. Don't let that put you down though, the 9600 is "mid-range" while the 8800 is still "high-end".

Lots of people are thinking the 9600GT is as fast as the 8800GT, just to clear things up, it's not.

Yeah, but I figure if its going to be the same price-ish, why not hold out for that one? I do a lot of 3d special effects, and I want to have the latest.

Like right now, I have a QX6850 and I'm wishing I got a 9650. Same price, slightly better. Actually a few bucks cheaper...
