You are going to notice a WAAAY bigger performance jump for the money if you just get a decent graphics card. I would suggest getting a 4850 or a gts250 at least to match that sort of system. The 8500 is probably the biggest bottleneck. And what is a q6600? The HDMI port is probably from the video card, if not it's from the onboard, and that would be why it doesn't work. If it's from onboard, the onboard video is most likely turned off because your computer is using the 8500. If it's coming from the video card, then getting a new one will fix it. I don't think you need a new computer just to fix that.

There won't be a huge difference since you won't be overclocking. It doesn't matter what chip you go with, there won't be a noticeable amount of difference. The processor has nothing to do with the HDMI port. It's either on your graphics card or the motherboard.

If you're getting the new system for free, jump on it. It has a faster CPU, faster memory, larger hard drive and a better graphics card. Seems like a no brainer to me.

The Q8300 is a faster CPU than the Q6600.

Q8200, Q8300: which will take over from the Q6600?
