Default Whats ATA100 & ATA150

I'm tring to learn a little about this. Please break down in stupid people terms

I want to buy this mobo below:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813123236

I also want to buy this HDD below:

http://www.newegg.com/product/Produc...82E16822135106

the mobo calls out for the Storage Devices below:
P ATA 2 x ATA100 up to 4 Devices
P ATA RAID NV RAID 0/1/0+1 JBOD
SATA II 4
S ATA RAID NV RAID 0/1/0+1 JBOD

And the HDD calls out for the interface:

Interface Serial ATA150

Now what has me confused it one says ATA100 and the other says ATA150. Is this not compatable? how are these two matched if they will work together? this ATA150 & the other ATA100 is not understood by me?????????????? what is that?????????

Oh, okay, so 150 and 100 call out speeds?? then it don't matter 150 or 100, as long as I have ATA in the specs???

So then going with what you experenced I see that the mobo I want to get do have SATA called out in the specs. I guess I need to find an SATA II HDD.

How much faster is SATA II???

thanks for posting back....

SATA150=150MB/s while SATAII=300MB/s

Speed difference of 150MB/s theoritically, but burst at that speed has yet to be seen.

The mobo and HDD have to be compatible. You need a mobo with SATAII (SATAIO) compatability to have a SATAII HDD.
