Default What specs to look for in a PSU?

I need to replace my current PSU since the voltages have gone bad. I know I need 1000w so I just need to know what else to look for. I have been told to get a certified 80+ one but now I'm hearing about looking for something about voltage efficiency or something, I don't know. Anyways just tell me what I should most likely look for.

When it comes to PSUs, you get what you paid for. Cheaper units with the same wattage as more expensive PSUs won't be as efficient or reliable.

Is your computer custombuilt or an OEM built PC?
PC: AMD Phenom 9950 2.6ghz Quad Core, ATI Radeon HD 5770, 8gb DDR2 RAM
Phone: Apple iPhone 5s 64gb (jailbroken)
Handheld Games: Nintendo 3DS XL, Tapwave Zodiac 2, GamePark Holdings GP2X F100
