Default What sort of Laoptop component is this?

I was opening up my laptop to find the RAM sockets and I came accross this. Anybody know what it is? I placed some RAM next to it to give an ide of size. Thanks

I highly doubt that it is your GPU.

That I believe is your network card.

umm ?? a complete guess would be a wireless card, n e clues on the writing ? cant tell from pic.

this is an intel wireless card for a laptop

Network cards (I meant wifi cards) are not integrated into the mobo.

Thanks for the replies - I'm sure this laptop doesn't have built in Wifi - ithas infrared but thats intergrated onto the motherboard. There is nothing useful on the writing, though it does say in really small letters "Telepermit", also the socket says "AMP" on it. It looks almost identical to that Intel card though.

Says its made by Askey Computer Corps.

I'll start the laptop up and check the device manager, see if there is anything there.

EDIT: The only thing that I can find in the Device manager which could relate to this is a "1394 Net Adapter"

Maybe it's a modem.
