Default what should i do to my computer?

OK original specs are

AMD 3700+ socket 939
1 gig of ram
7600GT video card
430 watt power supply

what should I upgrade to give me the biggest boost in performance? im thinking another gig of ram because its cheap and will increase performance but I know the others are important too.

ive been wanting to upgrade my processor for a while now but I simply cant find any dual core socket 939s anywhere. Not even newegg has that many 939s anymore. So im looking at going with another, newer processor but that would require a new motherboard and it might get a bit expensive extremely quickly.

the video card is another thing im looking at. Ive seen some nice ones like the 8800GT but ive heard brand new video cards with older processors leads to bottlenecking so I wont get a full performance boost. dunno...

and my PSU is only 430 so I will probably need to upgrade that if I get one of those huge, new video cards.

my budget isnt very big at all because I'd like to keep it under 150 dollars. I can go a bit over but the price definitely has to be under 200.

thanks

Does your motherboard support DDR or DDR2 memory? I think you could probably get a new mobo/CPU and RAM combo if you made good choices, I'll have a look at Newegg.
EDIT:
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103775, Brisbane core which means 65nm process.
Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138106, this is fine, you just won't be able to do much overclocking.
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820134046
Your GPU is fine for the moment.

Socket 939 dual core processor.
only thing is that basically is your whole budget..
I don't know much about video cards either so, im just throwing that out there.

Comes with a free $40 value t-shirt!

Edit: memory would be a good idea

only thing is that processor doesnt come with a heatsink....

id be willing to pay more for a more main stream motherboard now that the ram and processor are so cheap.

thanks for the help man

I assume you won't be overclocking so you could get a heatsink for very cheap: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835186010 or you could just get this which comes with a HSF and is 100MHz faster: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103243
Biostar make decent cheap motherboards but if you're willing to pay a bit more, I'll have a look for a better one.
A bit more expensive but you get Phenom support and an ASUS branded board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131234
I think the best combination would be the 4200x X2 that I posted, the Biostar mobo and the RAM I linked to earlier.

if you say the biostar is a decent cheap, functional board, Ill get that one. (i dont plan on overclocking anything). i just want a mobo that doesnt have a history of breaking on me

the biostar ones has many of the same functions as this gigabyte http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128081

and its about 40 dollars cheaper...

youre probably right but will that RAM work with the biostar mobo?

biostar says DDR2 800 with 240 pin

would this RAM also work?
