what ram to buy?

currently in my laptop i have 2 sticks of

128MB DDR - 266mhz - CL2.5 - pc2100

i definitly want more, at least 512mb total insted of 256mb. now my question is, do i have to match all those specifications up when looking for new ram? i dont have my computer manual, so i cant check in there... my laptop is a dell inspiron 1100. i've found some on ebay, but its pc2700, and what i have right now is pc2100... would it be ok? help!

The speed and Cas Latency have to match I believe.

im assuming that the CL is cas latency... is the 266mhz the speed? or is pc2100 the speed?

I looked up your Dell Inspiron 1100 for you. Do not buy the PC2700 SoDimm module. Your laptop only supports PC2100, what you currently have. Get like a gig of RAM in there and you should be fine. I have 512MB in my laptop but Task Manager shows me allocating a lot of memory. I will upgrade to 1GB soon.
