Go for the AMD Phenom II hands down... they use the new 45nm AM3 socket which means it not only has low power consumption and is quiet, but it will also allow u to upgrade in the future. As for intel's 775 sockets...they are gonna run obsolete soon because of the 1366...so no more upgrades for u.

I do have a Q6600 at the moment, but i have to admit that AMD is the best bang for the buck at this very moment. And they are both very very reliable...just many haters.

the Q6700 is very nice, AMD sucks!!! just my personal opinion so dont get mad at me people

Yeah just some dumb fanboy... We all have our preferences though. I like AMD
