Default What is needed?

Hello. I just first want to state that this is my first post on Computer Forums. I want to make a veeeeery basic computer. Actualy, I want to make my own game console using a computer motherboard. I don't want to spend alot of money, but can someone please tell me what basic parts are needed to make a basic computer that can run software.

P.S. Keep in mind, I am not using this computer to surf the net or other fancy stuff. I just want it to run software off of a flash drive, or CD drive.

Thanks

motherboard:

CPU:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819112205
Ram:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820141474

just get a generic PSU, a case, either ATX or mATX, some drives, and your set. should be able to run cds, stuff from flash drives, etc.

Since it is a gaming console, grab this server case:

You will need a very good GPU to game well on it, so:

I'm guessing with "game console" he means stuff which is like mario or some other very old games.
In that case the stuff rudster posted should be more than good enough.

Hey Thelis. Do I have to get a GPU, or can I get by with just a graphics card?

Yea mammikoura. I program my own games, and they are pretty basic. I do have one 3D game though. I play it on my laptop, and it plays fine, and I don't think my laptop has a GPU.

A GPU is another name for a graphics card, it stands for graphics processing unit.

Thanks for clearing that up, but if a GPU is a graphics card, then why did Rudster say I only needed the motherboard, CPU, and ram without saying I needed a graphics card?
