Is it a big deal not to use any of the memory that is listed in the manual that comes with your motherboard. I'm using the Asus P7P55D Pro and I was thinking of using the
CORSAIR DOMINATOR 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
or
CORSAIR XMS3 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
both state they are good for the i5, but they aren't listed in the book. So is it fine to use one of these.

They don't list all the RAM types in the book, but most of them, if not all will work with the board. What I'd use would be the cheaper one.

DDR3 2200(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066

Best ones for your board. So the 1600 are fine to use.

Both should work fine with your board. As a personal choice I would want to be using the DOMINATOR. I am using kingston which is not listed in the my manual. But it is by far some of the best functioning RAM I have used.
