Default What happened to ATI?

It seems that almost everyone here at CF has a 6600GT, or the like. Whatever happened to ATI cards? Due to budget reasons, I am getting the X700PRO instead of the 6600GT. The plus is, that after looking at countless benchmarks, it seems that the x700pro plays HL2 better. Anyone have an ATI card?

ATI makes good cards but for a budget gamer the 6600 has performance and a good price.

ATI drivers have been known to interfere with anti-virus software, and malware/spyware aplications not to mention that the drivers themselves seem to be totally unstable requiring to have to be constanly reinstalled.
This is totally unacceptable to me so I bought an Nvidia card and haven't looked back sense then.

I bought a Nvidia card because of ATI card drivers being unstable in doom 3. ATI cards may play HL2 better but at least Nvidia cards can play it without crashing.
