What do I really need for my computer?

So much stuff to protect computers these days. Antivirus, anti spyware, anti malware, firewalls,website authentications, anti phishing, ect. The lists go on. Should i get the whole bundle or just the necessary ones. What are the necessary ones?

Also is there anyway to increase computer efficiency such as ending some unneeded processes. How do i know which are important?

Windows has a built in firewall, so that's really not necessary, especially if you have a router.

AntiSpyware and AntiVirus are the 2 crucial ones. Check out NOD32 for a very efficient antivirus program that doesn't use much resources.
