What is the difference between HP Ink cartriges and Canon Ink Cartridges?

An HP Ink cartridge goes into an HP printer, whereas a Canon ink cartridge goes into a Canon printer.

Sorry, on a serious note to lancybin i believe it is as simple as the ones made by HP are only for HP printers (to my knowledge) and the same for Canon.
On the subject and to try and provide some more useul information to you i would look for "compatible" ink cartridges, especially if your just doing run in the mill printing and even some light photo printing.

You can buy generic brand cartridges that will fit your printer, but if it's made by the manufacturer that means it usually only fits in that manufacturer's printer. That being said, if you have an HP printer you still need to know WHICH cartridge to buy because there's about 30 of them and not just any HP cartridge will fit your HP printer.
