Yeah, the video card has to be made for SLI. You can't just stick two of the same card in and have the video power increased. SLI is still relatively new, therefore expensive.

Another option would be to get a motherboard that is crossfire ready. That is ATI's version of dual graphics. One card goes into the pcie slot and the other crossfire card goes into a pci slot.

The only downside is that you have to get the high-end cards. The good news is, unlike SLI, CrossFire can link 2 different cards together. SLI has to have 2x 6600 GT's or 2x 6800 GT's etc, while CrossFire can have different combinations like the X850 XT PE CrossFire Edition and a normal X800 XT or a X800 Pro and a X800 XT etc.
