Default what is the diff. between SLI, and normal?

i just wanted to know basically what the difference is between an SLI and normal chipset mobo? (i dont really know if this is a stupid question or not)

Basically, an SLI-equipped motherboard allows two of the same SLI-enabled video cards to be installed and work together to greatly increase graphics processing power. In even more basic terms: it means the motherboard has two video card slots.

so i could get 2 6800GTs?
but thats only if i wanted to put like doom3 on 2 monitors right?? who would do that?

Nope, it's like a twin turbo on a car, just for power.
You can do two monitors with one card...
