I usually just use aim for big files works fine. Going around 40kb it takes a little while but it gets the job done!

how would he split it up? and then put it back together? and we already tried AIM/msn, but both of them failed.

Re: what can i use to send this large file?
For a file of that size i'd try DCC on IRC. I've done large file transfers myself using that and granted its slow we normally just turn it on at night and leave it be and normally within 8 or 10 hours its done.

Just install a server program like abyss or apache, then give him your ip address and let him download it. If you need help doing that pm me.

Try Yahoo, I can not send files through Aim or MSN but for some reason on Yahoo I can.

Re: what can i use to send this large file?
Winrar, split the files and upload each of them. Then your friend needs to use Winrar to join them again and extract them. Easy as pie.
