I PC game in case you couldn't tell by my name, and I'm trying to figure out whether or not I should upgrade it with a GTX 460 and a barebones kit (Link lower down) or if there's a better and cheaper option. (Money is a factor)
These are my current specs:
CPU: Intel Pentium E5300 Dual-Core @ 2.60GHz Stock x64 (Socket 775 LGA)
DG35EC Motherboard (Not overclockable for me as far as I can tell)
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 440 1GB GDDR3 (As far as I can tell, GTX 460 is a big difference)
RAM: 2GB DDR2 RAM
This is what I plan on getting:
Barebones Kit: Either MSI 760GM-P23 (FX) AMD Socket AM3+ Motherboard and AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4GHz Quad-Core BE CPU OEM and Sony Optiarc AD7280S-OB 24x DVDRW Drive and Corsair CMX4GX3M1A1333C9 XMS3 4GB DDR3 RAM a Bundle at TigerDirect.com
BIOSTAR A780L3G DiabloTek Barebones Kit - BIOSTAR A780L3G Board, AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE, CPU Cooler, ADATA 4GB DDR3 RAM, Seagate 500GB HDD, 24x DVDRW, DiabloTek Mid Tower Case, DiabloTek 400-Watt PSU at TigerDirect.com
Galaxy GeForce GTX 460 GC 768 MB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 BB60XMH6HS 0845735000938 | eBay
I'm trying to get a very good gaming build for the cheapest I can get.
This way I would end up with these specs spending this much money:
AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4GHz Quad-Core BE CPU OEM
Sony Optiarc AD7280S-OB 24x DVDRW Drive (Or) Lite-On Internal 24X DVD Writer
4GB DDR3 RAM
Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA6G 3.5" Internal HDD (Or) Seagate Barracuda 1TB Hard Drive
DiabloTek PSDA400 DA Series 400-Watt Power Supply (Possibly)
A decent Motherboard
All for the price of : $413-$416
I'm not exactly an expert or anything with computers, but my dad knows them quite a bit and has built very many computers. I would ask him about what would be the best options, but he's always very busy and I don't want to intrude on anything.
All I'm really wanting to know is what the best build for the price is, keeping it under $500.
