Best I've ever used, haven't tried nod32 though. I heard it's pretty good too.

i use norton antivirus 2005 for antivirus program and zone alarm for my firewall they havnt let me down yet. So im happy with them

I have both NOD32 and Symantec Client Security Anti-Virus. NOD32 is probably the best anti-virus program ever. No problems with it at all, although it might take a couple of minutes to familiarize yourself with the options everything. Symantec Client Security is basically a normal Symantec Anti-Virus, but you don't need to suscribe to get updates and it's not as resource hogging.

Is Avira free?

Yes. There is also a version u have to pay for, don't know what difference there is but I've been happy with my free version.
