Default What is AMD spider?

I keep reading and hearing all this about the AMD Spider platform, but I'm still not certain on what it exactly is. Do you purchase all parts bundled together? Or is it just an interface that all the parts use more efficiently? Does anyone know what kinds of products it will offer? I'm still reading everything I can find on it, but I hope someone here can summarize and clarify all of it for me. Thanks.

AMD / ATI Spider is simply a marketing name for a certain set of parts. It's much like Intel's Centrino.

It's a combination of an AMD Processor, AMD Chipset and ATI Graphics card. Having a spider platform guarantees compatibility.

It's their new quad core (Phenoms), and CrossfireX, where you can hook up four GPUs. 4+4=8 and a spider has eight legs, or eight "things" as the AMD spokesman described them as at the press release.

Sorry, that's what I saw on an unnamed podcast, DJ-CHRIS may be right.
