Western Digital Hard Drive

Hi, I just purchased a Wesern Digital Hard Drive and I am having trouble installing it. I has fourty gigs ( i don't know how thats gonna help but it was a good deal for 40 dollars lol) and came with instructions but I am wondering how to troubleshoot it. I dont feel like destroying another computer lol please help

all you do is have to hook a power dongle to it and the ide ribbon and it should be fine. If its a second hard drive it has to be on the same ribbon as the other hard drive.

You will need to set it as a slave using the jumper settings, if installing as a secondary.

I say we just use the all mighty quote "power dongle"

thats the best.

Just plug that shit in and set the jumper, thats a piece of plastic on the back usually white to slave and don't forget the dongle.

Also, if it is a new drive and you are using XP, it will probably be unformatted so it will not show up in Windows XP. Once you have it installed, go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management> Then click on the Disk Management Icon. You will see the new drive listed there. From there you should be able to format it.
