Neither of those processors will work as AMD CPU's will not work on an Intel motherboard. You need an Intel socket LGA775 compatible CPU. If you can post what your motherboard specifications are, we could help you pick a CPU that will work in your system. If you don't know what motherboard you have, just post up the make and model number of your computer system.

Perfect!
That motherboard supports Intel Core 2 Duo E6x00 and Core 2 Duo E4x00 series processors. But they are getting tough to find and run well over $100 on average. They have one at ZipZoomFly, but it's $145: INTEL E4700 Core 2 Duo 2.60 GHz |

I meant "perfect" as in the info you posted about your motherboard.
I didn't mean the CPU was "perfect". Sorry for any confusion. I'm thinking you might be better off saving your money for a new system other than trying to update an older one. |

ok well i found some http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...name=LGA%20775 any of those wolfdale ones would work for me but prolly the 5300 or 5200 think those will be an upgrade they got hyper threading right?
yea but i mean i dont want an extreme machine and thats what i would do if igot a new one so im thinking well if i get a processor with hyperthreading my computer mite just run faster and im hoping it does |

Yea, either of those should perform better than the Pentium D.

It will be fine. The CPU can handle both 32 and 64 bit operations.
