Weird HD problems

Hi
I have a computer with a Western Digital 80 gig.
and a Seagate 20gig.
The 20 being a slave and 80 being a master.
I want to take the 20gig out and put it into another computer but when I take it out The computer gets to the flash screen with detecting hard drives and it detects the 80 gig but it stops.
When i put the 20 gig back in it works fine. I have computer knowledge so dont bother puting it simple.
I set the jumpers right and everything.
Please help.

welcome to computerforums!!! have you tried removing the 20GB one, and setting the jumper on the 80GB one to cable select? if the 80GB one is set to master, maybe it is messing up when the 20GB one is out of the computer because it's looking for the slave drive?? not sure about this,,,just a suggestion to try.

Is the master 80GB drive is connected to the end of the IDE cable?

WD EIDE drives use no jumper when they are in a single drive set up. Remove the jumper entirely or use cable select, and as stated above the drive should be on the end of the cable.
