Webcam Issues

my gfs webcam on her laptop has gone dark for some reason, living 4 hours away from her i cant actually look at it and see what i could do.... its built into her screen and im thinking she needs to find the cam options and adjust the video settings.. but like i said i cant really do it since she is a while away.. anyone know where these options would be she said there not in control panel.
