Default Webcam Help!!!

Okay, i have a video camera. I can connect it to the computer as a mass storage device fine. But when i change the setting on my camera to be a webcam when connected to the computer through a USB cord, it doesn't work...Do i need a driver or something?? I have already downloaded the driver from the disc that comes with the camera.. I just don't know what is happening!!!??!?!?! HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!

By the way, My computer doesn't seem to even be recognizing it...It doesn't even show up under the "my computer" option...
