"256mb ddr?" That a typo? Modern cards use gddr3. If it's supposed to be gddr3 then ofcourse the more memory the better. If it really is 256mb ddr (and shouldn't it be gddr?) then I need a link to the card.
U can't get a really good card with $160, but I'd say that a 6600GT is ur best bet. It's a decend card and will be able to play all new games, but don't expect to be able to play with the best detail settings in all games.
Well, the 6800 is better than the 6800xt by far. Get the Apollo 6800, its great, much better than the 6600gt. And you can unlock the pipes and shaders, overclock it a bit and its almost a 6800gt, which is a real good card. But it is 179.
hmm, well from what I see the ddr memory is used in old vid cards, but still some 6800s seem to use it. Hard to say if gddr3 is twice as good as ddr, I don't think it is but I'd still go for the 6800.
