that is actually one of the fastest RAM out. The fastest out is probably Team Xtreme Cronus. The OCZ is expensive though. Runs up to 300 for 2 gigs. OCs better than the gold. Uses different ICs.

So close, those two RAMs. You got to love OCZ for bringing in the competition. They make fine RAMs. OC heaven.

OCZ EL DDR PC-4000 2x1024MB Dual Channel Platinum XTC

OCZ EB DDR PC-4000 2x1024MB Platinum Edition Dual Channel Kit

I swear they're almost identical except for the heatspreader design. I like that honeycomb look. From the looks of it, the second one might be slightly faster than the first one. I emphasize slightly. Both solid RAM and it would be a pleasure to have either one of them.

They are completely different. No similarities between them. The chip IC companies are different. The first one uses Samsung UCCC chips, its good up to 270mhz. The second one is Infineon CE-6 good up to 290mhz. The second one comes with a price premium though.

whatever happen to the TCCD? I still like the honeycomb one though because of the enhanced cooling.

"XTC (Xtreme Thermal Convection) heatspreaders optimize the thermal management of memory modules by promoting greater airflow by means of micro-convection throughout what is usually the dead air space inside conventional heatspreader designs. In this manner, build-up of heat is avoided and thermal dissipation of the memory components is offloaded more efficiently through the honeycomb design. At the same time, mechanical stability is maintained. "

It's still fast for a 2GB dual channel kit compared to others. The more it dissipates heat, the better.

TCCD is only made in densities that support 512MB sticks just like BH-5.
