Default is this vista?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116488

I am about to purchase vista, and this just seems.. Very Cheap 0.o

Is it the right version I need for a new home computer?

PS: quad core 2.4 / 780i atx mobo and 2 gigs ddr2 ram, Vista will run nice and smooth right?

looks like it, maybe its cheap because its a 64-bit, and pretty much the people that knows about computers use 64-bit, and this can only go on 1 computer, so if you put it on one computer, it can only be on that computer.
now i am not sure how the serial key knows, i think it has to do with the motherboard. so if you switch mobos, you will need to get another copy.
if i am wrong, please correct me

Its Vista OEM. Meaning, it can only be installed onto 1 computer. Retail allows you to un-install the OS from 1 computer and re-install to another.

no no...it can only be an active license on one PC at a time. So Microsoft will check the key you're using every time you need to do updates, and it simply checks to make sure there is only one active key running and not multiple.

That is Vista, so you are good to buy for your build Mate
