Default videos on the movin' picture box

I'm at a loss for what needs to be done, I've got DivX and it does just fine reading all of my avi, mpeg, etc video files on my laptop. It also reads my mpeg videos just fine when I hook up my laptop to the tv via s-cable, but DivX just freezes up every time I try to play a avi file on the tv screen, it will play fine on the laptop and then as soon as I move it over to the tv the video ceases to work, even everything else about DivX still works just the video stops. Little help, would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

first i need a bit more info what do you mean you have divx ?? do you have the divx codec in a pack like k lite ? or do you have divx player ??

try this download k lite codec pack from here

download and install

then reboot and try playing an avi file on windows media player if it works try playing the file on your tv

if all else fails download vlc media player
