Default Video Editing Software?

I am looking for somthing better then Windows Movie Maker 2. It has barely any affects. And if you want to add text there is no way to do it, exept for like titles and credits, no way to add like...Actuall text.

Does anyone know of any really good Video Editing software?

btw, please, no mac fanboys tell me to get a mac for video editing

Here's a list you can look at. Some require a Mac, but others don't. I'm not familiar with any of those software, lol. Then again, it's free.

WMM2 does let you put text on the movie, although I definitely agree it lacks some good features.

But try looking at:
Sony Vegas 6
Pinnacle Studio (it's kind of newbie oriented though)
Adobe Premiere
Adobe After Effects (this is awesome, even for editing stuff you already edited in WMM)

I have to say though, I am kinda disappointed with WMM2; It's a good concept with a user friendly interface but could really use some updates... Oh well, I hope Vista will have a WMM3

good luck
