Default video converting software?

does anyone know of a good video converting software that coverts avi to mp4? basically i want to convert videos to my ipod. videora somehow doesnt work when i try converting shaolin soccer..

I have had some problems with Videora aswell,I found that if i converted my movies with PQDVD Free PSP Movie Converter express

and then imported the converted video into Itunes,and then copied it over to my ipod,the movies played no problem.

It's pretty cool when Ipod uses the same format as PSP

I use media-convert.com works quickly, can use an URL or a already downloaded file on your PC. it covers most formats and has presets for PSP/Mobile phone/etc. Check it out

Yeah, that or another one called zamzar.com works really well. I've used that and you upload the file to them and they convert it and email you the download link so you can re-download the converted file, doesn't take all that long either.

Depending on how large the video file is,I think that might take a while to upload it and download it...

i also suggest winavi. isnt free from what i remember, unless ..

WinAvi is the best IMO

dont think its free though, although if you search about you could easily find a good T
