can someone please explain the mpg h.264 codec for me?
i'm using pinnacle studio and would like to encode any future video clips i produce with that codec.
how can that be done?

H.264 is the next-generation video compression technology in the MPEG-4 standard, also known as MPEG-4 Part 10. H.264 can match the best possible MPEG-2 quality at up to half the data rate. H.264 also delivers excellent video quality across the entire bandwidth spectrum — from 3G to HD and everything in between (from 40 Kbps to upwards of 10 Mbps).

Yeah, I convert my videos to my iPod with Videora @ H.264/748kbps video/128kbps audio/same res. and they look great. I can convert a 21 minute AVI/xvid video that is 180MB to a MPEG4/h.264 file that is only 130MB and it looks pretty much the same.

I know Pinnacle supports MPEG-4 encoding, but I'm not sure about the H.264 codec...see if they have anything about it on their website.
