Video Cards for Video Editing, or?

Do you need a really good video card to edit videos, or are those just for 3D applications?

I think just 3d apps, my dad has a g5 mac, and those are MADE for video editing, he uses finalcut pro, and I think it came with a 9800...And that was when it 1st came out, so I doubt you need anything special..Its all about the ram, and processor, for doing the rendering and stuff..my.02 cents.
