Default video card turns on but not screen

ok guys i have an agp card that i just put a computer now its not mine but an old one my friend doesnt use but i realized it had a nice motherboard so i said why not, and i put in the video card and the fan would turn on and everything but the screen wouldn't so i put the old pci card back in and it worked fine, so what do you guys think? could it be computer settings possibly?

Whats the Video Card you are trying to install and what is the motherboard model number?

I'd plug the monitor into the motherboard, then plug in the card. You'll get video from your mobo and you can get into device manager and install the card, then retry output from the GPU
