Default Video Card and RAM

With tax returns approaching I am faced with the difficult task of picking the right GPU for my new rig. I am getting an athlon x2 4400, I would like to get a tv tuner also to record shows of dish network, my motherboard has nforce 4 driver, should i go with a 7800gt, and then buy a tv tuner, or should i buy a x1800xl all in wonder? Also what kind of performance gains would i get from corsair ram, pc3200 with timings at 2-3-3-6 compared to geil with 2.5-8-4-4, i will be doing some video editing with the programs ill be recording from dish. any help would be great thanks.

The Corsair RAM you pointed out do lok better than the Geil in your example. Overall latency's are lower for the Corsair RAM so get that one. For the video card, get whatever you can afford. The 7800GT is a great start and the 7800GTX is an even better card as well but at a much higher cost. If you have money to spend, get the GTX. As far as the TV tuner goes, it doesn't really matter too much. Aren't those All in Wonder cards act as a video card too? If you don't want that card, you can get this one:

Hauppauge WINTV-PVR-150 PCI Interface Tuner Card - Retail

Yes, I will most likely be buying 2 gigs of ram, but i just needed some imput, as for the graphics card, i was thinking of getting the x1800xl all in wonder, i thought it might simplify everything but i dont know how good of a tuner it is. so i thought about go ahead and getting the 7800gt and then a dedicated tuner. as for the ram i will probly go with the crucial, the timings are good and the price is not all that more, cant wait to get her built!

ok 3 options:
base on what u want to sepnd

get a 7xxx nvidia(gtx or gt) or 1800(xl or xt w/e)
+
a seperate tv tuner preferably haupauge:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815116625
and theres a different model for media centre if thats what u have.

or

get the all-in-wonder card made by ati:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102642
they also make a 800xl all-in wonder, these ati cards have alot of driver issues sicne they are all-in-wonders (include a tv tuner) you might be better off to get two seperate cards

I have been having the same issue and I havent really received any help on it.. but what I found on my own research is that most tv tuners only are able to receive 150 analog stations... so that is cable/antenna... but if you want it to receive satellite channels or digital cable you will need something like this.....http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815116618
