Default Video Card Problem

I work for a company that uses Appian video cards... they all have the ATI 7000 chip in them. The driver that comes from Appian doesn't work sometimes with some of our programs so I wanted to use the ATI drivers. I benchmarked the ATI drivers and they were better but we also use multiple displays here. I want to extend the desktop into the next monitor but that option is not available under the display properties. I have tried doing it through the ATI control panel but it just makes the resolution real high and it is just one big desktop on both screens. What I want is the windows toolbar on the bottom to be on the first monitor and then the desktop just to be extended.... not the toolbar on the bottom. The appian does this but again we are having problems with it. Anyone else have this problem or seen it before? Any help would be appreciated. Oh and I am using the updated ATI driver and hydravision.
