Default Video Card for Laptop

I am running a HP dv5 series laptop using the onboard video card. Is it possible to add a video card to this model? I've heard that you cannot add a video card to some laptops.

Change that 'some laptops' to almost every laptop and you have it right. the DV5 has its gpu built into the mobo, and there is no way to expand.
