Default Vid. editing help

Is there a way i can add sounds to a video by slaving the sound file to a key?

Ex. I am editing gun shots in my video. I watch the people shoot than i press a key(Ex. S) and it adds the sound file in at the spots i tell it too. Would be easier than dragging in the sound everytime I want to use it.

I honestly don't think there is a software that would let you do that...

Windows movie maker can. Just record that gun shot sound and add it in where you want. Why would you need a slave key?
