Default Very dissapointed...

As you all know, I have just been building my PC recently, and well I finally got it built!! Woohoo!! BUT I ran a few benchmark tests on it and well I think there is something wrong In 3DMark01, I only got a score of 16,000 roughly, and well here's my 3DMark03 score:

http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/7...titled5vj1.jpg

Surely spending all this money on components would give me a higher score right? My spec is in my signature bhy the way.

I'm feeling very depressed as I've seen people getting over 17,000 on 3Dmark03 with a 7800GTX Any ideas of what the problem could be will be GREATLY appreciated!

Already have done, Got the 78.01 from nVidia, and well there must be something wrong. On the the troll demo on 3DMark03, it's fps went down to 5, and then stayed at 7 for ages which inckluded a lot of lagg

I'm really annoyed at the fact that something is wrong

Any other ideas?

A new install of XP, if you'll forgive my language this one time, leaves behind so much S**T. I allways run a reg cleaner right after doing a fresh install along with my little trusty friend> crap cleaner. Find junk files is another good one to run after that also. Next go to www.blackviper.com(yes he's back!!!) and check on the services you can shut off.
All these things serve to rob your system of top performance. So get the programs and run them and see how much better it does.
Here's the links>

services/processes you can turn off

Mine is in Russian so you're on your own there. It's the only one I trust.
But here's the name of it anyway. NBGCleanr.
So there you have it in a nutshell. Run the programs from safe mode and they'll do a vastly superior job than runing from normal.
And do be careful about what services you shut off. You can lock yourself out of your computer.

WTF?!?!?? I get higher than that with my 6600GT and Athlon 64 3500+!!!!! Double check your clock rate on your video card. Is it at the correct stock level? Some video cards advertise high clock rates but actual install will result in lowered rate. In that case, OC it to what it was meant to run.

Are you getting any error anywhere? Device Manager? etc?

omg, are u serious? Even I get more than that with my great and magnificent fx5700. Though my overall score is only ~3000. But u should be getting way better scores.

Have u tried any different drivers?

I might have a solution. Did you plug in your molex connector to your 7800GTX and the 12V rail for the AMD? And did you flash a NEW bios to the Gigabyte board for DUAL CORE SUPPORT? ANd did you make sure the baord is running in SINGLE GPU mode? Check all of these!

Ahh, the SLi mode. I didn't think about that. He's got to have the switch in there for non-SLi though. I hope he didn't put it in the other way. What happens if you do? Will it simply not run? I never had an SLi motherboard before but hopefully can get one someday.

Flashing the BIOS would be the next best thing to do.

Thanks for all your replies guys Right, a few questions as I am a n00b to computing:

What does flash the BIOS mean, and how do I do it?

I think the chip for SLi is in the right way, I didn't rrmove it when I got the moptherboard, but I will take a picture for you guys to see if it's right.

The molex and 12V rail is another one I don't know. My friend helped me build it and well I'll take a pic of my whole setup inside.

Any guides on the above would be great

The computer is working lightening fast by the way, and so I think the CPU is fine, but I shall double check. I think it's just the GPU, I'll be back in 5 minutes with pictures

Here's a good tutorial and steps on how to flash your BIOS. Well, it's mainly this flash utility you have to download but the PDF will tell you step by step in what to do.

http://tw.giga-byte.com/MotherBoard/...oReflash_1.htm

As far as the SLi switch, your manual should have a detailed picture on how it needs to be set. I was looking at the Abit Falta1ty board and downloaded their PDF manual just so I can get an overview on it. THe switch should say SLi switch "Normal". Make sure you have the video card in the first PCI-ex16 slot. In the Abit version, the PCI-ex16 number two slot gets converted into a regular PCI-e x1 slot. So that's kind of funny.

The video card probably uses the power from the power supply as I have seen on high performance video cards so there's probably a power connector for you to to plug that in.

If I remember correctly, Gigabyte boards won't start without this plugged in.

I just want to thank you all again for your help, but I think I may have sorted it, but I'm not sure what score I should be looking at with my setup.

Here's my 3DMark03 score, is it what it should be?

http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/5...titled26vv.jpg

I solved it by updating all the drivers from Gigabyte's website So no need to flash the BIOS unless this score is again way off what I should be looking at

I also ran 3DMark01 and got 25,000 and again,l is that what I should be looking at?
