Default using friends internet through mine

I am currently on an university network with a packet shaper that severly limits my ability to download or use certain programs. I am just wondering is there a way (or program) to connect to a friends computer (off the network who is unrestricted) then use their internet connection to run my programs? or is this wishful thinking?

Buy a LAN connector cable and the connection can be shared.

How is your friend's PC connected to the Internet? If he has a wireless router, you can either get connected by an ethernet cable or if you have a wireless adapter for your computer, then you can "borrow" his connection anywhere in the house without using a cable.

I am connected via a wireless connection and so connecting using a LAN cable is easy. Obviously using a broadband connection you will need a router on the host side and a receiver on the receiving end.
