Default USB mass storage help please!!!

okay,

i have a 40gig hard drive from a laptop and i use and IDE connector with it and the other day i was trying to write a partiton on it and i thought i screwed it up. But when i plug it in to my computer, it says that it found the hardware, but i still cant access it from "my computer".

I've tried everything windows tells me to (i.e. finding new drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling, ect.) and when i go into device manager, it says that the device is working properly.

i have windows (sorry, dont know which sp), and its on a usb 2.0 port. all my ports are working.

help please !!!
thanks

Look in disk management, and post the status of the drive

Could have messed up the drive when trying to partition it, ie it needs to be FDISK'ed to get it to recognise it again.
