Default Usb

whats the difference between the different usb cables, (a,b,y, etc.)? also whats it mean if it says male to female or male to male, etc. on the specs on a usb cable? if i wanted a cable to go from like a usb device, to the computer, what would the specs be?

male is like a usb plugin and female is like a usb port

you'd need a male to female

Usually there is a type A connector at the computer and a type b at the device. But it depend upon the device, some use one of the mini variations. Check out the illustration at the Wiki link.
