URGENT!! Ubuntu Linux advise needed.

Please can you tell me the specs needed to run Ubuntu linux??
It is for a normal copy not 64 bit.

Unfortunatly it didn't work, I installed it and it said login, i put the username and password in, it then came up. It said something about it being free yadda yadda. And it said username(a symbol): (Then you type in something, don't know what what to type?) i tried everything, nothing happened.

So i gave up, any advise would be great.

Strange. Try a different distrubtion, and also try the live version, and see what happens then. I know Ubuntu well as I use it on my laptop simply for music. Never happened to me...

Same thing happened to me, tried the username and password over and over again and nothing worked..
